Hi, I'm Walter

I am a passionate marine scientist with expertise in the assessment of marine organisms' responses to climate challenges.
As a researcher and educator, I am driven by a curiosity for the ocean’s hidden stories with a strong commitment to science communication and ocean literacy.

Research

How can we predict the metabolism of marine organisms in a future scenario?
My research focuses on how marine organisms, specifically cnidarians, respond physiologically to human impacts and climate change. I am especially interested in applying innovative underwater technologies and non-invasive methods to study these changes.
Below are some highlights of my main research activities:

Publications

All of my latest publications are open-access. For a full and updated list, please visit my profiles on Google Scholar, Scopus, or ResearchGate. You can find my data and code in the Zenodo data repository. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to discuss any of my work!

Outreach

When I am not diving underwater or working in the lab, I enjoy sharing my passion for the ocean through public talks, school visits, and cultural events, helping to raise awareness and inspire curiosity about marine life.

Education

I am deeply committed to ocean education and awareness. By organizing workshops, teaching specialized modules, and developing content for ocean literacy, I strive to spark curiosity and foster a sense of stewardship for the marine environment across all age groups.
